Alsius@Horus excel in will (not necessarily resources) to defend, but is very reluctant to invade. It is a long walk to the enemy castles at the far other end of the map. Why the castles are placed asymmetrically on the map like that or why the blue part of WZ is significantly smaller than the red and green zones, is mysterious indeed.
And I suspect the population numbers are bogus. There are too many players with too many accounts in all realms. It would be hard even for NGD to tell, but I think it is quite plausible that some players deliberately grind alts in enemy realms to screw up +RLM or gate guard numbers, but remain loyal to only one when push comes to shove. That hypothesis will never be testable however (I can't think of any way to prove or falsify it), so it is the algorithms for +RLM and gate guards that are to blame and ought to be looked over. There
are asymmetries regarding races and items between realms in the game and also regarding the terrain, we all know this. But then it doesn't make much sense to aim for balancing realms so they have equal
number of players either. The relevant figure to watch would be strength, which is something different than numbers due to mentioned asymmetries.
