Default Defensive Stance bug on Amun [with video]

easier to show you than explain but basically defensive stance seems to be bugged with certain weapons.

Very nice nice find and nice Video.

This might proof that the armor reduction calculation of multiple damage types is somewhat bugged.

I noticed a huge reduction with Arcana strike too which, as that Daen mace, comes with 3 different dmg types.

Yep, even the same on Horus, my multiple damage dealing hammer does around 150 damage on syrtian guards, while my slashing Axe can do more than 300 damage.

Yesterday afternoon I saw Doggy-San talking to Ponter and showing him what I think it was this bug. Ponter said something about the Mace having three kinds of damage and the axe being pure slash... so I think this has to do with armor resistances.

Anyway, I think NGD is already informed of this situation.

I rather think its the calculation of mixed damage types.

It seems like when you do 750 damage with 3 different damage types it gets more reduced than only 1 type with 750 damage, even when armor is normal to all.

So if my armor reduces dmg like this:
Ice 100
Fire 130
Lightning 90
Slash 120
Blunt 140
Pierce 100
a pure slash attack with 600 dmg would deal 480 dmg while a mixed attack like 200 fire, ice and lightning would only deal 100+70+110=280?

Well it should not but it might at the moment been buggy in a way like you described.

I don't know what NGD is planning but IMO this would make the most sense:

Calculate the damage absorbtion as a weighted mean of the absorbtions for each damage type, with weights being proportional to the incoming damages of the respective types.

So with your second example, the amount of damage absorbed should be 1/3 * 130 + 1/3 * 100 + 1/3 * 90 = 106+2/3, so the damage would be 439+1/3.

If it was 400 blunt + 100 piercing damage, then the absorbtion would be 4/5 * 140 + 1/5 * 100 = 132, damage = 368.
